According to the Groundhog Day Official Website, Phil (the official groundhog) did not see his shadow, meaning that spring is near! However, with much of the north east - and even as far west as Chicago - being hit by massive snow and ice storms today, I'm not sure how accurate this prediction is…
It has been a record year for snowfall, with communities all over the northeast running out of snow days, and clean up budget, early in the season. The snow just keeps coming!
And it truly pains me when i hear "So much for global warming…it's freezing out!!!"
Firstly, we replaced the term global warming with climate change long ago when it was observed that the overall warming of the planet can cause different local effects, one of them being increased precipitation.
Anyway, I don't want to be an ecosnob about this whole thing.
